About SSI OSHA

SSI OSHA was formed in June 2005 to serve client specific needs. As sole proprietor, Stefanie Corbitt has extensive compliance and regulatory experience in the health and safety fields. As the original safety and health manager for the Texas location of the world's leading supplier of beverage dispensing equipment, Ms. Corbitt was responsible for the creation and implementation of all facility safety and health programs. The primary manufacturing activities performed at the foundry included: molten aluminum molding; screw machining; light assembly; acid passivation; and materials handling.

After relocating to the Washington D.C. area, Ms. Corbitt was employed as a Health Compliance Officer for the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry's, OSHA division. As the sole health compliance officer, she was responsible for all health-related inspections in a seventeen county region in Northern Virginia. As a result, she gained experience with a broad variety of workplace settings ranging from heavy manufacturing to healthcare facilities. Some industries inspected include: food processing plants, polyurethane molding operations, sheet metal shops, automotive parts manufacture, as well as municipal water treatment facilities, schools, police stations and various healthcare operations. Her expertise was used in several fatal accidents involving explosive gases and confined spaces.

Ms. Corbitt served as Keller and Heckman's OSHA Regulatory Specialist. For over a decade, Stefanie provided firm clients with assistance in preparing written programs as required by OSHA standards; interpretations of various standard requirements; prepared US, EU and Canadian compliant safety data sheets and labels; assisted trade associations in preparing written programs, strategic implementation plans for new or modified regulations and training for their members; performed numerous facility audits and inspections; provided training in: OSHA inspections, recordkeeping, permit required confined spaces, hazard communication, WHMIS & global harmonization system, respiratory protection, PPE hazard assessments, incident investigation among other topics. Ms. Corbitt maintains contact with various agency officials to keep abreast of new developments and interpretations.

Her experience as a facility safety professional and a Health Compliance Officer affords her a unique perspective when assisting clients. Stefanie understands the requirements of a production operation as well as the need to integrate workplace safety and health regulations. To that end, she has the ability to perform 'Mock' OSHA Inspection and training session to assist in compliance readiness, in addition, she has the ability to review required written programs for completeness. Lastly, Ms. Corbitt is capable of providing training to facility management as well as operations employees.

Ms. Corbitts' formal education was obtained from: Frederick Community College (A.A., 1989); West Virginia University (B.A., 1991); West Virginia University (M.S.E. Occupational Safety and Health, 1993).

About Stefanie

Stefanie Corbitt, President of SSI OSHA, has over 30 years experience in safety, health, environmental and product stewardship regulation interpretation, guidance, training, compliance assurance programming and auditing. Since founding her own consulting practice in 2005, Ms. Corbitt has conducted site risk assessments, job task analysis as well as topic specific audits. As an authorized OSHA General Industry trainer, she has taught more than 1000 individuals. In addition, she has trained Fortune 100 site leadership teams about regulatory inspection response.

Before consulting, Stefanie was the OSHA Regulatory Specialist for Keller and Heckman LLP, a regulatory, litigation and corporate law firm with offices in Washington, D.C., Brussels, San Francisco and Shanghai. In that role, she conducted numerous on-site safety, health and environmental regulatory compliance audits, leadership team orientation and training sessions and prepared custom compliance programs for Fortune 500 client companies. These efforts led to improved regulatory compliance assurance. Ms. Corbitt's expertise also includes the preparation, review and audit of product material safety data sheets and labels, for compliance with applicable U.S., Canadian, European, Australian and other country regulations.

Ms. Corbitt was formerly Environmental, Safety and Health Manager at Carmun International, Inc., a Texas-based manufacturer of beverage dispensing systems, with diverse aluminum casting, machining, metal finishing and assembly operations. She led the creation of the first formal safety and health compliance program for that organization. Stefanie also served as Health Compliance Officer for the State of Virginia , Department of Labor and Industry's Occupational Safety and Health Division. In this capacity, her responsibilities included occupational health compliance auditing across a 17 county region, covering heavy manufacturing through physician offices.

Ms. Corbitt holds a Master of Science Engineering (M.S.E.) in Occupational Safety and Health and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Biology from West Virginia University, and an Associate of Art (A.A.) in Pharmaceutical Technologies from Frederick Community College. Stefanie is a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, American Society of Safety Engineers, American Welding Society, and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists. She has completed numerous courses at the OSHA Training Institute in addition to various continuing education courses as offered by AIHA and ASSE.
